This deck went 3-0 in the 2024 Star Wars CCG Online Retro League Premiere - Hoth Event.
The strategy here is to go all in on Walker Garrison - this deck has no "plan b."
Start the Hoth: Ice Plains and draw aggressively until you get two more Hoth sites - ideally the Mountains and the Defensive Perimeter. Start playing Imperial Walkers as soon as you can to occupy three Hoth sites and play Walker Garrisons for massive Force drains. Use Alter to protect those Garrisons from Sense. Trample or Ice Storm any undercover spies that the Light Side might send to block your drains. If they send characters to battle you, you'll usually win, since your characters and vehicles are much bigger than anything the Light Side can throw at you.
If they are playing LS space, you are in a very good position, since you will likely out drain them. Don't play the Death Star and use your small space package to punch holes if you have the opportunity.
A T-47 deck could be a problem since they can move a lot faster than your walkers and get in drains on Hoth. But since there aren't many support cards for speeders in this format, you don't see snowspeeders too often.
This deck's biggest weaknesses are:
-
Grimtaash - you have to run lots of copies of Imperial Walker, Walker Garrison, and other cards. Try to manage your hand so you don't get caught with doubles of those cards. An early Grimtaash where you've drawn an unlucky hand can really hurt.
- Revolution - If they revolve your Ice Plains before you can get more sites out, you are in serious trouble. You have one copy of Evader. It may be worth adding a second copy if you can find something to cut.
